Not all riders experienced the first season of Sprint races with the same level of stress and pressure. Fabio Quartararo can attest to that, as despite the much more intense schedule, due to not fighting for important results in the MotoGP World Championship, he ended up feeling less stressed with the new format.
The Frenchman from Monster Energy Yamaha argued that it is not necessary for Sprint races to be held at every Grand Prix, but he assured that he had less stress than in recent years:
– To be honest, from my part the last three/four years were much more stressful because of the results I had in the championship – when you are in first or second in the championship the stress is much higher. Now I wasn’t fighting for anything – just trying to do my best and get the best possible result. Of course you always have stress before the start, during the race. But I knew that if I had a bad result it wouldn’t change my life. Last year, 2021, 2020, were much more stressful. Of course it was a tough and very long season with all the Sprints, and I think it’s not necessary to do them in every round.
