Ducati’s CEO, Claudio Domenicali, welcomed Marc Márquez’s move to Gresini, one of the Italian brand’s “tentacles” in MotoGP, highlighting the importance of the role played by Massimo Calandri in this whole process.
‘Marc Márquez being hired by a team like Ducati is like Mbappé going to Real Madrid,’ the executive told La Repubblica.
‘Since the day he tested the new bike in Cheste, our other seven riders started analyzing how Márquez rides our Desmo, as he managed to stay ahead of them in just a few minutes. I swear I won’t explain what the results were, but I can say that before riding the bike for the first time, he did some race simulations as if he had already ridden the bike before. I insist, don’t ask me about the results, as I cannot explain them, even if I were tortured,’ he added.
‘I can only say that for us, Ducati, it is a pride that Marc will ride one of our bikes next season. I can only say that I still hope that the champion in 2024 will be Pecco Bagnaia, but if there is one thing I am convinced of, it is that Marc will fight for the title until the last race, as Jorge Martín did in a spectacular way this year’, highlighted the leader of Ducati.
