Álex Márquez saw a good part of his career being remembered more as Marc Márquez’s brother than for his own achievements, he who is a two-time world champion, in Moto3 and Moto2. The Spaniard admitted that initially being referred to as #93’s brother was something that puzzled him, and he recalled another rider who experienced a similar situation: Luca Marini.
Speaking to Moto.it, the youngest of the Márquez clan, who will curiously team up again with his brother at Gresini, talked about the connection often made, more in the past: ‘It used to affect me a little, but then, when I started the championship and managed to win two World Championship titles, people started to know us as World Champions. But yes, I am Marc Márquez’s brother and he is my brother’.
Another rider who knows what it is like to have his name associated with another MotoGP champion and icon is Marini, half-brother of Valentino Rossi. The Spaniard admits that in his relationship now with the Honda rider, talking about their older brothers is something that does not happen:
– I have a relationship of respect with Marini, but we have never talked about our brothers.
