Jago Geerts was the last winner of the MX2 Motocross World Championship season. This Sunday, he came out on top in the MXGP of Great Britain, finishing first in the second race after placing third in the opening race.
Simon Längenfelder (Red Bull GasGas) dominated the first British race, in a duel with Thibault Benistant (Monster Energy Yamaha) coming out on top by just 1.783s. Geerts (Monster Energy Yamaha) took third place, just over two seconds behind. The trio remained in the final positions from the first lap. The already champion Andrea Adamo (Red Bull KTM) finished fourth, always behind the competitors ahead of him.
The story of the second race was different. Kay de Wolf (Nestaan Husqvarna) led for much of the 14 laps, but on the penultimate lap he couldn’t hold off Geerts. The Belgian won by 1.436s ahead of the Dutchman. Adamo took third place, 2.265s behind. Längenfelder finished fourth, over 20 seconds behind the top three.
In the overall standings of the MXGP of Great Britain, Geerts was the MX2 winner with 45 points, two more than Längenfelder. Adamo bid farewell to this season with a third place, seven points behind the round winner.
