Marc Márquez will ride a Ducati in MotoGP in 2024, but contractually he is linked to Gresini. At the moment he does not have a direct relationship with the Borgo Panigale manufacturer, and there are conflicting indications regarding a potential future in the factory team.
Recently, Ducati’s sporting director, Paolo Ciabatti, said in an interview that the Spaniard could be a candidate for a spot in 2025. However, CEO Gigi Dall’Igna stated to the newspaper AS that one cannot think of that scenario:
– At this moment we have so many riders and everything is so well organized that you cannot entertain this reasoning. I would say no. We cannot think of putting Márquez in the official team.
Ducati currently has Enea Bastianini and two-time champion Francesco Bagnaia. Jorge Martín, at Prima Pramac, was runner-up and reiterated that he wants to make the leap to the factory team in the future, even admitting to seeking alternatives if there is no space.
There is also Marco Bezzecchi showcasing his talent at the VR46 Racing Team, another satellite team at Ducati. Therefore, there is no shortage of options for promising young riders for the manufacturer, while Márquez is already heading towards the final years of his career: he will turn 31 years old in February.
