In 2022, a new brand of motorcycles with Italian origins was launched. Named MBP, or Moto Bologna Passione, the brand was founded by Keeway Motor Group, a sub-brand of the Chinese motorcycle giant, Qianjiang (also known as QJ Motor). At EICMA 2022, the brand introduced a series of impressive models like the T1002V, this time targeting the segment for beginner riders with the launch of two naked streetfighters.
The two models are the N250 and N300, which are almost identical in terms of style but have slight variations in performance and equipment. However, it is more than likely that these two models will not be sold in the same markets. The N250 will probably be sold in Europe, according to A2 licensing regulations, while the N300 will go to the Asian market to compete with bikes like KTM, Kawasaki, and Bajaj.
Regardless, it is evident that MBP aims to introduce a range of affordable models for beginner riders, and the new N series clearly follows a tried and tested formula. From a style perspective, they use an exposed trellis frame design and angular fairing. At the front, we find an interesting LED headlight with a single centrally mounted bulb and a DRL at the bottom. The motorcycles have a fairly respectable base, despite their entry-level status. A set of KYB inverted forks takes care of the front suspension, while a KYB monoshock provides preload adjustment. As for brakes, front and rear discs with dual-channel ABS. Like most naked bikes of this type, the MBP N250 and N300 are equipped with 17-inch wheels front and rear. MBP focuses on a premium appearance with full LED lighting, as well as a five-inch color TFT screen and backlit controls.
As far as performance goes, the N250 and N300 are slightly different, but both have single-cylinder engines. The smaller N250 has a 249 cc liquid-cooled fuel-injected unit, with 26.5 hp and 22 Nm of torque, and promises a top speed of 128 km/h. Meanwhile, the N300 increases performance a bit with its 298 cc engine producing 29.5 hp and 27 Nm of torque. Consequently, the top speed is over 139 km/h. Both bikes have a very accessible weight of 145 kg.
At the time of writing this article, prices and availability for the new naked streetfighters from MBP have not yet been announced. However, it is likely that these bikes will be launched first in the European and Asian markets, even before being introduced in the North American market.
