The Superbikes World Championship had six warm newcomers in 2023, with Lorenzo Baldassarri, Bradley Ray, and Eric Granado joining Danilo Petrucci, Dominique Aegerter, and Remy Gardner. Find out a little more about their season here.
Lorenzo Baldassarri: aiming for the top ten
Making his WSBK debut with GMT94 Yamaha after finishing as runner-up in WSSP, Baldassarri achieved a 12th place as his best result on three different occasions: at home, Misano, and closing the year in Jerez. However, this was not enough to secure a spot on the grid for 2024, as Philipp Oettl was hired to take his place.
The Italian finished 18th in the standings.
Bradley Ray: a top six, and some rounds as absent
Racing with the Yamaha Motoxracing WorldSBK Team and after making his category debut in 2018, Ray only competed full-time in Superbikes this season and finished sixth in Imola.
Absent from the round in Most, he only raced in Europe but did enough to end the year in 19th place.
Eric Granado: a year full of injuries
Similar to Ray, Granado also had a brief appearance in WSBK in 2020, but 2023 was the year of consolidation in the category… partly.
With PETRONAS MIE Racing Honda Team, the Brazilian missed several rounds due to injury, and ended up without scoring any points. His best result was 17th place, achieved twice (Most).
