In the next season, Marc Márquez will represent Gresini in MotoGP, where his teammate will be his brother Álex. This will be the second time they are on the same team, after both being in Repsol Honda in 2020.
The #73, who joined Gresini earlier this year, assured Catalunya Radio that he never told Marc to join the team and revealed the biggest doubt the six-time premier class champion had before deciding:
– In no moment did I tell him to come to Ducati. Marc is very intelligent, there’s no need to tell him anything. He knows where he was coming from, where he was last year, what my needs are, and what is most difficult for me… He had doubts if his style would adapt to Ducati, but in the end there are eight riders with different styles who were fast with the bike, and this gave him a lot of confidence.
Álex Márquez did not hesitate to give his opinion to Marc, but admitted that he did so as a brother: ‘Of course he asked me things, but I gave him my opinion not so much as a Ducati rider, but as a brother. Because I saw everything that happened since 2020, which was very tough for him’.
