Michelin is one of the most respected brands when it comes to tires for all vehicles. The brand has a 130-year history of innovation and tire development for two-wheelers. Since then, the brand has seen remarkable success not only on public roads but also on the circuits, with over 500 victories in the FIM World Series.
That being said, Michelin shows no signs of slowing down and has revealed three new tires for the year 2024. Specifically, the refreshed range of Michelin rubber tires for a wide selection of riders in the form of the Power and Anakee ranges. These tires have become a benchmark in the industry and are often found as standard equipment on some of the best bikes in the sector.
The Michelin Power tire series has always aimed to strike a balance between exciting performance and daily functionality. The Power 6 is no different and takes performance and reliability to a new level. According to Michelin, the new Power 6 is intended for a “wide range of sports bike users seeking sporty character and pure driving pleasure.” If the Power 6 is about performance, it is also about longevity and grip in all weather conditions. As such, it uses harder wear compounds to increase mileage. Manufacturers are already using the Power 6 as standard equipment on some models, such as the 2024 KTM 390 Duke.
For those who frequent the track but still need to ride on the street, Michelin has the solution with the new Power GP 2. This tire was designed for the track but approved for street use, so at its core, it’s a street-legal racing tire. Michelin claims it was designed for supersport bikes, like the BMW S 1000 RR and Ducati Panigale, to make the most of their innovative performance. However, being approved for road use also means it prioritizes safety on the road, providing higher levels of grip on both dry and wet surfaces. According to Michelin, the new Power GP 2 uses the same development tools as the tires used in MotoGP.
The Michelin Anakee tire series has always aimed for adventure and exploration beyond the limits of asphalt. The new Anakee Road was specifically designed for adventure touring machines that cover long distances on roads and highways. The new tire also feels equally at home on city streets for daily commutes. Like the bikes they were designed for, Michelin claims the Anakee Road tires are versatile and practical.
Unlike the other rugged Anakee tires, the Anakee Road has a tread pattern designed primarily for road use. As such, it promises high levels of grip on both dry and wet roads, extended tread life for long highway trips, and notable stability at high speeds. Last but not least, the new Anakee Road tires have a lighter construction, allowing for more agile handling on winding roads.
