Franco Morbidelli is having a very difficult start to 2024 and a tough preseason, having missed both MotoGP tests in Sepang and Losail after getting injured in Portimão. Despite his absence, Ducati doesn’t seem to forget about him, with Gigi Dall’Igna reminding of the qualities of the Italian who signed with Pramac Racing this year.
In statements to MotoSprint and quoted in Motosan, one of the main faces of Ducati and responsible for creating the most competitive bike on the grid said that he is also thinking about other riders who joined the Borgo Panigale universe in 2024, not just Marc Márquez: ‘It’s not just about him. I’m thinking about Morbidelli. I’m sorry that, due to the fall in Portimão, he can’t be here to race with us immediately. Franco impressed me a lot in the year of his second place finish’.
The Italian promised that Ducati will try to support Morbidelli in the best possible way: ‘For me he is a rider who is in good condition. And we will try, like everyone else, to give him the best possible material’.
Doctors have asked Morbidelli to take things easy and to take some time off competition, and his presence at the opening of MotoGP in Losail is still not certain.
