KTM test pilots and… commentator. Pol Espargaró will wear two “skins” in the upcoming season. The Spaniard commented on what he expects from 2024.
‘At DAZN, I will experience competition nervously, but passionately, being able to explain what is happening and teaching people my way of seeing the races, which is the same as the riders. We will enjoy this year. The riders are happy for me, maybe because of the closeness I have with them, there may be an approach in this new role, which would be incredible. I hope it will be an intense year for everyone and that we can enjoy it,’ Pol explained to DAZN’s microphones.
‘I didn’t realize how bad I was last year until the season ended. I recovered quite a bit, but now I can say that I practically climbed out of the hole,’ he recalled.
Looking at what will happen in the premier class, Espargaró hopes for an exciting season at the very least.
‘It will be very fun because we see Ducati dominating, but we have three infiltrators within, Jorge Martín who had an incredible 2023 and pre-season, so he will be fighting to win races, we also have Álex Márquez who has a year of experience and Marc Márquez, who is the surprise of the year and we will see what he is capable of. Maybe in the first races he will need to adapt, but with his ambition, he will be ready,’ affirmed the now commentator.
‘Of course Bagnaia is a candidate, he was the one who won in the past and on top of that he has an official Ducati. He is a rider who has a lower profile in tests and was leading the tests. This means that the Ducati works, but we have the infiltrators who can fight for the title,’ he concluded.
