Malaysia is the home GP of the CryptoDATA RNF MotoGP Team and Razlan Razali doesn’t hide that this is a special place to race. Looking forward to what’s coming, the Malaysian approaches this round with some caution, as given the conditions this may not be the best for the Aprilia bike.
The Founder and Team Manager of the Aprilia satellite team spoke first about how special this Grand Prix is to him: ‘The Malaysian Grand Prix at the Sepang International Circuit will always have a special place in my heart. Obviously, it’s our home Grand Prix, but more importantly, I spent 11 years of my career working at the Sepang Circuit and I’m always looking forward to coming back to represent Malaysia in some way, being the only Southeast Asian Team Manager in MotoGP. I’m looking forward to seeing all the Malaysian fans’.
Then he focused on what lies ahead for his team and showed some concern that it might be difficult for his riders, Miguel Oliveira and Raúl Fernández: ‘Racing in Sepang is not going to be easy; a combination of heat, humidity, and rain, and as we saw last time in Buriram, heat is not a good friend of the Aprilia RS-GP and I really hope something can be done for both Miguel and Raúl to feel a little more comfortable on the bike with the Malaysian heat. I’m sure both of our riders will do their best for the team, being a home Grand Prix, to achieve the best possible results’.
It should be noted that in the last race weekend, Oliveira had a problem with his bike and was forced to retire early, with Fernández and factory riders Aleix Espargaró and Maverick Viñales also having serious issues with the bike’s temperature.
