It may be on Sunday at the Malaysian GP that Pedro Acosta wins the Moto2 World Championship title. He currently has a 63-point advantage over Tony Arbolino (Elf Marc VDS/Kalex), who is the only one who can surpass him.
After the Sepang round, there will be two left, meaning there will be 50 points up for grabs. With the advantage of the number of wins, Acosta (Red Bull KTM Ajo/Kalex) can even concede 13 points to Arbolino in next Sunday’s race.
Therefore, the Italian is immediately obliged to finish, at least, in the top three – which alone will be insufficient, always depending on Acosta’s result.
Results that will give Acosta the title at the Malaysian GP:
- Any result ahead of Arbolino;
- Arbolino in fourth place or worse;
- Retirement or below 13th place, if Arbolino does not reach the podium;
- Top four, regardless of Arbolino’s result;
- Fifth to ninth place, if Arbolino does not win;
- Tenth to 13th place, if Arbolino does not finish in the top two.
