Cependant, l’avenir pourrait être en danger et même entraîner la fermeture – tout comme plusieurs autres pistes en Belgique.
According to the website SPEEDWEEK.com, noise pollution is at the core of the problems with the sand track circuit. Permission to operate may be revoked as early as January 1st. This would put the presence of MXGP at risk, as the MXGP of Flanders in Lommel has a contract until the end of 2026.
In light of the existing risk, the GP organizer, Johan Boonen, assured that the situation is being resolved: ‘The builders are working hard to reduce the noise. So please, give us another year or two and then we can negotiate another situation‘.
