Francesco Bagnaia is aiming for his third consecutive MotoGP title this year. The pre-season tests were encouraging, with Bagnaia leading in both Sepang and Losail. Mattia Pasini sees the Ducati rider in good form, as well as the bike.
In an interview with MOW Mag, the Moto2 standout said: ‘We always try to find an antagonist for Pecco, but in my opinion, he is very good at silencing almost everyone. He showed great form in the tests, it seems that the Ducati GP24 has something extra because they managed to combine the qualities of the GP22 with those of the GP23‘.
Pasini then explained the qualities of the bikes produced in Borgo Panigale in recent years, arguing that the four riders who will have the Desmosedici GP24 will have an advantage: ‘Let’s say that the 2022 one was a bit better in terms of frame, especially in the entry of the corner, while the 2023 one was a bit smoother for the rear tire, had a bit more traction – which sometimes also bothers us, we saw several crashes from Pecco happen for this reason. But here, I think that this year whoever has the 2024 one will have an advantage. So, [Franco] Morbidelli, [Jorge] Martín, Bagnaia, and [Enea] Bastianini will often be at the front‘.
