After being with Repsol Honda between 2013 and 2023, Marc Márquez experiences this year the second different manufacturer in his MotoGP career – specifically Ducati, riding for the Gresini team.
In an interview on the El Hormiguero program on Antena 3, the Spaniard spoke about the adaptation process, which involves automating the necessary style and way of riding:
–Each bike has its own style and secrets to make it work. A bike can be very good, but you have to ride it in one way or another. I spent 11 years riding the same style of bike. Honda has a style, and now I’m changing to a bike with which I have to make an effort in many areas of the circuit to avoid the habits of the other bike. During practice, you go calmly, but in a fast lap, the habits of the other bike come out. It’s something you have to automate.
And Márquez gave an example: ‘In this bike, to lower the rear device, you have to deactivate it… it’s a different method. Many times I didn’t remember, I came out of turn one and the bike lowered itself and I lost the whole lap. Everything has to be automated‘.
