Francesco Bagnaia was crowned MotoGP champion in 2023, in a season where Ducati also retained the constructors’ title. However, team manager Davide Tardozzi didn’t experience the year with only positive emotions.
In an interview with the championship’s official website, the Italian revealed that it was a challenging season for him despite the successful outcome: ‘Personally, it was a very tough season for me. I feel pain inside when we are not in good form, when we don’t win. It ended up being very tough for me to finish the season – while in the end, Pecco gave me immense satisfaction by winning the title with the race victory‘.
Despite the dominance and titles of the last two years, like any other team, Ducati always has room for improvement. Tardozzi highlighted a vital area for a factory team: ‘I believe we have to look at what we did well and what we provided to the riders in terms of growth in relationships, talking to the engineers, explaining things to let the bike grow. I think for the factory team, the most important thing is the connection between the riders and engineers‘.
