Aaron Maré was the winner of the second stage of the Abu Dhabi Desert Challenge. The result allowed the South African to take the lead in this second round of the Rally-Raid World Championship (W2RC).
This Tuesday, the drivers faced 239km of timed stages between Aldhannah City and Mezaira’a. Maré was the fastest to complete the course, in 3h15m53s, surpassing Konrad Dabrowski (Duust Rally Team/KTM) by 2m08s. Jeanloup Lepan (Duust Rally Team/KTM) finished third, 8m47s behind Maré – he was awarded a 59-second bonus. The top five of the day was completed by Ross Branch (Hero MotoSports) and Oran O’Kelly (Vendetta Racing UAE/KTM).
With three stages left to compete, Maré leads the Abu Dhabi Desert Challenge with a 7m28s advantage over Dabrowski, while Lepan is third, 21m13s behind. Branch and Jan Brabec (Strojrent Racing/KTM) complete the top five.
