Francesco ‘Pecco’ Bagnaia and Celestino Vietti share the track at Valentino Rossi’s Ranch outside the MotoGP world championship and have a very special relationship because of it. Vietti, who will have a new challenge in Moto2 in 2024, hopes that the ‘cycle’ of his friend and compatriot has finally begun, after winning the world title again.
In an interview with Corriere Torino, Vietti recalled the last round of the world championship at the Ricardo Tormo circuit, where Bagnaia’s clarity was very evident, even in the face of the great challenges ahead: ‘There was a pleasant atmosphere in Valencia. We could see that Pecco had very clear ideas. He showed great speed by winning the last GP and securing the world title. I think his main qualities are tranquility and awareness of his abilities, as demonstrated by the fact that he never got into difficulties even when the fight with [Jorge] Martín became very tough’.
Vietti hopes that the title Bagnaia confirmed will be an important step for what will happen in the coming years, especially after seeing intense rivalry push him to a very high level:
– Espero que el ciclo de Pecco haya comenzado, aunque nunca sea fácil su confirmación. Recibió una gran paliza en Barcelona, pero demostró ser el más fuerte de esta temporada en muchos aspectos. Después de esta victoria, estará aún más consciente de sus habilidades y estoy seguro de que volverá a la pista el próximo año con aún más ganas de ganar.
