Gigi Dall’Igna is one of the key figures in MotoGP. Since taking over as general manager of Ducati Corse, he has revolutionized the structure and the results are now evident – the Borgo Panigale manufacturer dominates in the premier category, as well as in the World Superbike Championship.
The aerodynamics of the motorcycles developed under his leadership have been identified as one of the key factors for their success. Carlo Pernat shares this opinion and did not spare praise for Dall’Igna in statements to the website GPOne.com:
– Dall’Igna was very good at competing with the Japanese in aerodynamics, which was an area that was unknown to them. In my opinion, Gigi had help from being an assistant to [Jan] Witteveen at Aprilia since 1992, he had a great teacher and, for me, he even surpassed him. I would say that Jan was a wizard of two-strokes, while Gigi became a wizard of four-strokes.
