Since 2020, Tetsuhiro Kuwata has been working at Honda, having held various positions since then. When he joined, he immediately started working for Formula 1, where he dreamed of reaching after taking the first steps in Formula 3. Since 2016, he has been the director of Honda Racing Corporation, now being involved in sports activities in motorcycling.
There are several projects under the responsibility of the Japanese veteran – the most media-covered being MotoGP, but also including the World Superbike Championship or the Dakar, for example. It is an example of a career that did not culminate in Kuwata’s dream, as he revealed in a Honda documentary series:
– When I started this career in competition, I was working for Formula 3, but my dream was to work for Formula 1, because this is the top of the world championship. I wanted to go there and also wanted to make, let’s say, the number one engine in the world. Maybe that was the most passionate time of my life, because at that time I had a great goal.
A story that the HRC director used to emphasize the importance of dreaming and working to achieve desires: ‘If you don’t have a dream, maybe your life in the company will be boring. If you believe in dreams, always, if you work hard – even if it’s not a job you like, keep going. Show people that you can do anything. Maybe that helps you reach your dreams‘.
