En a sport where injuries are as common as in motorcycling, Andrea Dovizioso has an unusual record. Since he made his full-time debut in the World Championships in 2002 until he retired last year, he never missed a race.
Although he has suffered injuries throughout his career, none were serious enough to keep him away from the tracks. In fact, the period in which he competed the least since 2002 was when he was without a seat in the paddock between the beginning of the 2021 season and the Aragon GP of the same year.
A record of few physical problems that Dovizioso faced in an interview with PecinoGP. The 2017, 2018, and 2019 vice-world champion admitted that he was lucky in this aspect:
– You could say I was very lucky. I had falls, fractured bones, but if I think about other riders, I can say I was lucky. My 37 years are noticeable, especially when doing motocross, but I can consider myself lucky, in quotation marks.
