In a sport where injuries are as common as in motorcycle racing, Andrea Dovizioso has an unusual record. Since making his full-time debut in the World Championships in 2002 until retiring last year, he never missed a race.
Although he has suffered injuries throughout his career, none have been serious enough to keep him off the track. In fact, the longest period he went without competing since 2002 was when he was without a seat in the paddock between the start of the 2021 season and the Aragon GP of the same year.
A record of few physical problems that Dovizioso faced in an interview with PecinoGP. The 2017, 2018, and 2019 vice-world champion admitted that he was lucky in this aspect:
– You could say I was quite lucky. I had crashes, I broke bones, but if I think about other riders, I can say I was lucky. My 37 years show, especially when doing motocross, but I can feel lucky, in quotation marks.
