With the arrival of the new year, Marc Márquez is now officially a Gresini Racing rider in MotoGP. A decade of association with Repsol Honda is left behind, after the contract expired on December 31, 2023.
The six-time champion of the premier class begins a completely new chapter in his career. For the first time, he will represent a satellite team, and it will also be the first time he will ride a MotoGP bike that is not the Honda RC213V – he will be on a Ducati Desmosedici GP23.
At Gresini, Márquez will seek to return to the successes that have eluded him since 2019 – due to the physical problems he has had and the sharp competitiveness crisis of Honda. In theory, he will have the conditions to fight for the top positions even with a bike from last year, but he will also have to go through a period of adaptation – not only to the bike but also to a completely different reality from what he has been accustomed to since 2013.
The first public act of #93 with Gresini Racing should be the team presentation – scheduled for January 20th at an event in Riccione, Italy.
