Álex Rins had a challenging season in MotoGP in 2023. His stay at LCR Honda turned out to be a short transition phase that lasted only one year, but he went through it all – including complicated leg injuries that kept him away from the tracks.
The new Monster Energy Yamaha rider thus recalled the injuries suffered at the Italian GP: ‘In June, the disaster came. The worst injury of my career so far‘.
Weeks after getting injured, Rins had his wedding, so he had a month full of emotions: ‘July was a roller coaster of a month. It was mentally difficult to deal with this injury, but I had one of the happiest days of my life. I already knew, but finally having the right partner by your side is the most important thing during difficult times‘.
As for returning to the bikes after the injury, #42 wrote that the first steps were tough: ‘In September, I was finally able to get on a bike, first on the Ohvale and then on bigger bikes. I started to feel like a rider again, but some days the pain was unbearable… fortunately, I had the best doctors and professionals by my side during this time‘.
