The 2024 edition of the Africa Eco Race began this Tuesday with an Italian victory. Jacopo Cerutti was the strongest in the first stage on motorcycles, representing Aprilia.
The Italian completed the 173.56km timed stage between Nador and Boudnib in 1h54m09s, beating his compatriot Alessandro Botturi (Yamaha Ténéré World Raid Team) by 1m47s. In third place was the other official rider from the Japanese manufacturer, Pol Tarres, 1m50s behind the winner.
Fifth in the top five were Guillaume Borne (Casteu Trophy/Husqvarna), competing at home in Morocco, and Alexander Vaudan (Casteu Trophy/KTM). The sixth fastest time was achieved by Attilio Fert (France Road Book/KTM), while Giovanni Gritti (RS Moto Team Honda Oil) finished seventh and Juan Pedrero García brought the official Harley Davidson to the eighth position, 12m51s behind the leader.
