Jonathan Rea has a vast career in the World Superbike Championship, including six titles. This year he moves to Pata Yamaha and, despite starting a new chapter in his career, he doesn’t see himself in action for much longer.
In an interview with SPEEDWEEK.com, the British rider assured that retirement is not on his mind yet: ‘I won’t retire as long as I feel competitive and have fun. I haven’t thought about retiring yet and I’m looking forward to my time with Yamaha‘.
That being said, Rea emphasized that he doesn’t want to stay in WSBK for much longer, also considering the young talents: ‘I’m not saying that this will be my last contract, but I don’t want to be here in five years. I’ve been in the paddock since I was 21 years old. In 2009, I joined the World Superbike Championship. If I’m still here at 40 years old, please someone tell me to make room for young riders.
