The Fernanda Pires da Silva Autodrome, better known as the Estoril Autodrome, is for sale. The process is being carried out by Parpública, the company that manages the circuit, as reported by the ECO newspaper.
The same source adds that ‘the necessary documents are being prepared’ for the sale of Estoril Circuit S.A., which has been 100 percent owned by Parpública since 2002.
The public tender will be launched only when the new Government takes office and starts performing its functions. The next legislative elections will take place on March 10.
In statements to ECO, the Mayor of Cascais, Carlos Carreiras, revealed that there are ‘three groups interested in investing. Two are entirely Portuguese and one is a consortium of Portuguese and foreign companies. The maintenance of the Estoril Circuit track will be ensured’.
The autodrome was the home of the Portuguese Formula 1 Grand Prix from 1984 to 1996, also hosting the MotoGP, Moto2/250cc, and 125cc/Moto3 World Championships from 2000 to 2012. In the upcoming season, the Autódromo Internacional do Algarve will host the second round of the Motorcycle World Championships as it has been happening since 2020, on the weekend of March 22 to 24.
