The leadership of Dakar 2024 remains in the hands of Ross Branch. This Monday, in the third stage, the Hero MotoSports rider was penalized by one minute and finished fifth, but remains at the top of the overall standings with a 3m11s advantage.
The rider from Botswana told the team’s social media that it was a day when he made mistakes: ‘It was indeed a very strange stage for me. In the morning, things were going very well, but then I made some navigation errors and lost time with a particular waypoint. However, I’m glad to be here in one piece.’
Branch also spoke about the crash that took his Portuguese-German teammate Sebastian Bühler out of the race: ‘I hope my teammate Sebastian recovers soon, it was heartbreaking to see him lying injured by the side of the road. My thoughts are with him.’
