In one of his best results of this edition of the Dakar so far, Ricky Brabec finished second in the fourth stage on Tuesday. He was 2m59s behind the winner, his teammate José Ignacio Cornejo, and currently sits in third place overall, 4m56s behind the Chilean leader.
The American commented to the official Dakar website: ‘The day was good. Today I started in second place; yesterday there was a kind of plan to start at the front, so we could lose some time as a strategy for tomorrow. I caught up with Kevin [Benavides] early and he was riding very well, so I’m not quite sure. […]. I’m happy to be here. Today I rode with Kevin for about 150km, which was great. We had fun in the dunes’.
With another day completed, Brabec is already looking ahead to what’s next: ‘Today is the end of the first marathon and now we’re going back to the bivouac and the caravan, preparing the bikes, planning for tomorrow’s sand, and then we have the Chrono stage. After the 48-hour Chrono stage, we have a rest day and I’m looking forward to that’.
