Marco Bezzecchi has been with the VR46 Racing Team since his debut in MotoGP in 2022. That’s why he is riding a Ducati, which is one of the strongest bikes in the current field, but being at the end of his contract, his future is open.
Asked by SPEEDWEEK.com if he would be interested in continuing with an independent Ducati next year, the Italian replied: ‘I would love to be a factory rider for Ducati. This is a dream of mine because I really like the way they work. I like the project, I like everything. I have to say that the other manufacturers are getting closer in terms of level, there is no longer a superior speed or anything else. What makes the difference is that we are eight very strong riders’.
Bezzecchi’s intention is to continue with Ducati, also clarifying that having a number of quality riders on the same bike is an advantage: ‘Of course, all the riders are strong and don’t get me wrong, but having eight strong riders on the same bike, for example, is an advantage compared to the two Yamaha riders. That’s normal. I would love to stay with Ducati, but we will see’.
The ambition of the third-place finisher in the 2023 World Championship is legitimate, but it won’t be easy to achieve. Champion Francesco Bagnaia is expected to stay with Ducati, and there are many contenders for the other bike besides Bezzecchi, such as the current holder, Enea Bastianini, or last year’s vice-world champion, Jorge Martín (Prima Pramac/Ducati).
