Marc Márquez has decided to move to Gresini in the 2024 season, surprising everyone. It will be the first time he joins a satellite team and is outside of Honda – he will be riding a Ducati. His goal is to return to good results.
The contact came from the pilot’s agent, as explained by the team owner, Nadia Padovani, to Corriere della Sera: ‘We would never have approached him, his agent contacted us but he had a contract with Honda until 2024. The obstacles weren’t too big. I told my team: “Let’s try to wait.” I absolutely believed in the hope that all the planets would align. I believed until the end, and it happened’.
That being said, the Gresini manager emphasized that it was not a stroke of luck: ‘No, we are professionals, and the results obtained with other riders in recent years speak for themselves. Otherwise, he wouldn’t have come. Of course, the fact that his brother, Álex, is already with us had an impact. From the GPs he came home with a smile and told…’.
