Álex Márquez will ride for Gresini in MotoGP for the second consecutive season. In 2023, he returned to the podiums and even won a Sprint race. Now adapted to the team and Ducati, he wants to continue progressing and, although he does not set goals at this stage, he believes that sooner or later he will be able to win a Grand Prix.
Quoted by the newspaper Marca at a sponsor’s event, the Spaniard said he is ready and excited to start the 2024 season, hoping to start well: ‘We must continue with the evolution. The goal I have set for myself is to start in the best possible way. But that is something that all MotoGP riders want. Starting on the right foot makes everything much smoother. I am prepared for anything. I am very eager to get to the preseason and the Malaysia test. We finished last year very well and we have to start well. It’s about creating a good foundation‘.
For now, Márquez does not set concrete goals in terms of results, as he explained: ‘Now is not the time to generate expectations. It is too early, it is much wiser to maintain discretion. My initial goal is to improve consistency and be more solid. And there will be time, if things go well, to aspire to very good things‘.
In any case, #73 believes that winning a main race may be within his reach: ‘Winning races and getting podiums is the result of good work. Last year had everything. If I continue to work as I have been, I believe that the Sunday will come when I win. I came close to victory in Malaysia, but it slipped away‘.
