The evolution of portable electronic airbag systems continues with the introduction of the Alpinestars Tech-Air 7x. Designed to be more compact and user-friendly, the Tech-Air 7x replaces the Astars Tech-Air Race and will be sold alongside the already available Tech-Air 10, Tech-Air 5, Tech-Air 3, and Tech-Air Off-Road.
This complete line fulfills Alpinestars’ goal of having a Tech-Air system adapted to any type of driving, whether on the track, on the road, or off-road.
Similar to its predecessor, the Tech-Air Race, the 7x can be integrated into compatible racing suits and jackets or used as a standalone vest when using the converter kit provided with the system. Users can replace the canisters for the first four uses before sending the system for complete maintenance and replacement of the airbag bladder.
The airbag coverage is centered on the upper body, providing protection for the entire back, chest, collarbones, and shoulders. This differs from the Tech-Air 10, which also includes protection for the hips.
A major point of discussion regarding airbags is convenience. Astars addresses this aspect by including a USB-C charging port on the activation tab on the chest. The ability to integrate the Tech-Air 7x into compatible gear also enhances functionality and overall comfort – no worries about grabbing the suit and airbag vest when heading to the track.
Using the system is as simple as closing the vest’s zipper and securing the magnetic tab. An integrated lithium-ion battery provides 25 hours of riding autonomy. The battery status and other data can be checked through the Alpinestars Tech-Air app, accessible via Bluetooth.
