After a day of rest, Stage 7 proved to be very tough (and long) for the riders in the toughest rally competition in the world, but that didn’t stop Jose Ignacio ‘Nacho’ Cornejo from achieving another provisional victory in the current edition of the event.
The Monster Energy Honda rider took 5h18m33s to complete the stage, covering a total of 873 km, with a special stage of 483 km, securing his third victory this year. Kevin Benavides (KTM) finished in second place, 32 seconds behind the Chilean, while the reigning champion, Luciano Benavides (Husqvarna), finished third, 3 minutes and 12 seconds behind.
Ross Branch was the best rider of the day for Hero Motorsports, finishing in fourth place ahead of Ricky Brabec (Honda).
Rui Gonçalves (Sherco Rally Factory) is currently the only Portuguese rider to have reached the finish line, in 15th place, with a delay of 25 minutes and 4 seconds.
The stage is still ongoing and so far there is only information about the top 18, with the times subject to change.
