Carlos Checa spoke about the subject and attributed Casey Stoner’s 2007 title to the tires.
The Spanish rider gave an interview to Fred’s Cycling Obsession: ‘The Ducati suited me perfectly, but with Dunlop… in fact, I always struggled with Michelin, it’s a tire that doesn’t warn you,’ he said.
According to Checa, Bridgestone was essential for Stoner’s title: ‘With Bridgestone, we truly made good development that we perfected and then, when Stoner arrived and won the World Championship, it was because of the tires, it had nothing to do with the bike. The previous year with LCR, they called him “Rolling Stoner”. We cannot talk about a bike without talking about the tires.’
