Adrien van Beveren was back in the fight for victory on the tenth stage of the Dakar 2024. This Wednesday, the Monster Energy Honda rider finished third, just 20 seconds behind the winner – Ricky Brabec. In the overall standings, he remains in third place, now 11m46s behind his teammate who is still in the lead.
The Frenchman told the official Dakar website that it was a good team effort with Brabec, after a difficult start in terms of navigation:
– It was a good stage. The navigation was once again very complicated; at the beginning I felt very slow because I was trying to find the way and it was difficult. Ricky arrived at the refueling and we rode together from there. It was good to have him. I attacked to open the way because I also do the work for the team and I felt good about it. But he was always double-checking and sometimes I was confused and he managed to help me show the way. It was a good team effort.
Despite the result, van Beveren admitted that there were mistakes: ‘It was very long. […] I knew it was easy to make a mistake. We made a small mistake near the end, but overall we managed. The roadbook was very complicated, I feel like we made some mistakes, but it could have been much worse‘
