The AMA 250SX in the West Zone had another round this weekend, with Oracle Park in San Francisco hosting the AMA riders in very difficult conditions. However, these conditions did not prevent Jordon Smith from claiming the overall victory, although he was pushed to his limits, coming out victorious with a difference of less than a second from second place.
Smith started the main event of the night with the holeshot, with Jo Shimoda crashing on the first lap and not being able to return to the race. Next up was Max Vohland who, when in second place, ended up getting stuck on the track and was also forced to end his race.
Smith took advantage and stayed away from the “dangers”, with Levi Kitchen and Phil Nicoletti fighting for second place in the race. Kitchen prevailed over his opponent, but was later overtaken by Carson Mumford for third place, although Mumford’s position didn’t last long as he crashed in the mud, allowing Nicoletti to reclaim third place.
With many crashes along the way, Smith was one of the few who maintained consistency. The white flag was raised, and Kitchen closed in on the leader as Smith struggled to overtake a very delayed RJ Hampshire.
This allowed Kitchen to catch up to Smith, but it was the Monster Energy Star Racing Yamaha rider who secured the victory in San Francisco (+00.913s), with Kitchen in second and Garrett Marchbanks crossing the finish line almost a minute later.
