In a space of five years, Yamaha will return to what it once was and will be able to interfere in the fight for victories and titles in the premier class of speed. This conviction belongs to Cal Crutchlow, test rider for the Japanese brand.
‘We know that Yamaha can build the best motorcycles in the world, because they did it for many long years. For 15 years, Ducati didn’t win a title, Aprilia wasn’t anywhere for long, and KTM was just starting to get strong,’ declared the British rider, in statements to Crash.net.
‘Yamaha will turn it around. In five years, the Japanese brand may be back in the front positions and the other brands may be nowhere again. That’s how racing is,’ he added, before praising the European factories.
‘I have to congratulate them because they did everything to be at the front, now I believe that Yamaha and Honda are good manufacturers, who know how to build good motorcycles and have good engineers. The problem is that they have to change the way they work, because now the game has changed and that’s the reality. What the Europeans do is working. So, we will also have to go in that direction,’ he said, before continuing:
– We have to have a more open mindset, but Yamaha knows that and I’m sure Honda does too. I believe that when they do it, act faster and better, with a more open mindset, and maybe they won’t be as secure, then I think they will take a big step and I trust they will do it. At Yamaha, they are motivated, they listen, and they are willing to come back strong, not just doing what they have always done, because that doesn’t work anymore. They need to understand the new way of working.
