After achieving his first victory on a Honda in the 100km dei Campioni race held at Rancho de Tavulia, owned by his older brother Valentino Rossi, Luca Marini discussed various topics. First of all, how was this first competitive experience on a bike from his new manufacturer?
‘It wasn’t easy, we had to work, make some adjustments, because we have a lot of data, a lot of experience with Yamaha and this year I used a Honda, I am very happy to be able to use it. It’s very enjoyable to ride, but I still need some time. Anyway, the race went well and I managed to win. Honestly, I wasn’t expecting it. It seems to me that Rossi is also in good shape’, Marini emphasized in an interview with Sky Sport MotoGP.
‘Honestly, I really liked this new feeling, it’s very nice to be part of the Honda family. We have a shared dream, we have to try to make it come true as soon as possible. We are also working very hard this winter. I have been in contact with the whole team, trying to work on every detail of the bike, in order to be as prepared as possible for Malaysia. I’m sure we will have many things to test and the days will be useful for me, I will also have to adapt to the bike to get to know it better. Just one day in Valencia was really too little’, he said.
After a long association with Marc Márquez, Honda is now putting all its chips on Luca Marini, a rider who will have the responsibility of bringing the Japanese brand back to good results and titles, in the face of fierce competition from brands like KTM, Aprilia, and especially those that are part of the Ducati universe.
