Honda endured another tough season in MotoGP, managing only two top-ten finishes – the best being Johann Zarco’s eighth place in Thailand with the satellite team LCR Honda.
Óscar Haro had the chance to visit the Japanese manufacturer’s garage during the Barcelona round, and he described a tense atmosphere on the Hablemos de motos podcast:
– I saw a lot of frustration. It made me really sad. I saw a lot of frustration in the HRC box. I felt really sorry for Joan Mir. [Luca] Marini, I think the guy knew what he was getting into and doesn’t have that «DNA» that Joan Mir has as a world champion, which might make things even harder for him. Well, they’re playing two totally different roles.
Mir finished 21st in the championship, just ahead of Marini. The best Honda riders were from the LCR team, with Zarco in 17th and Takaaki Nakagami in 19th. The factory team ended last in the teams’ championship standings.
