The three titles that Jorge Lorenzo achieved in MotoGP were all with Yamaha, but the truth is that at the end of 2016 he decided to change course by joining Ducati – which, at the time, was far from having a winning bike like the YZR-M1.
In the podcast Tengo un plan, the former rider recalled his departure from the Iwata manufacturer: ‘Almost always I had Valentino Rossi as a teammate and won three titles. After so many years on the same team with the same bike, I lacked motivation, I needed new stimuli. I woke up for the routine, without much enthusiasm’.
But that was not the only reason for Lorenzo’s decision: ‘Yamaha didn’t treat me very well in 2015. They tried harder for Valentino Rossi and that was very noticeable in Valencia. In quotes, they devalued me’.
