The concessions in MotoGP, approved this year in an exceptional way, especially for Honda and Yamaha, was a topic that caused a lot of controversy and that Carmelo Ezpeleta has now brought up again, making it clear that, although not everyone was satisfied, there had to be a compromise between all parties.
The CEO of Dorna spoke about the issue to the Spanish newspaper Mundo Deportivo, and made his position clear and explained why the process was not as fast: ‘I am very much in favor, if possible, of everyone being on the same page. And it took some time for us to adapt what we were proposing to what the other manufacturers were proposing’.
He then spoke about the manufacturers’ point of view and how some facilitated the process more than others, but without forgetting that, in this specific case, it is not possible to please everyone in the same way:
– Honda and Yamaha were obviously in favor from the beginning, KTM and Aprilia were asking for other things and Ducati was asking for less. And in the end, we had to reach an agreement that doesn’t leave everyone 100% satisfied, but leaves the championship satisfied.
It is important to remember that more than one member of Ducati has publicly stated that the Borgo Panigale manufacturer was more harmed than the others, since instead of being allowed what they had previously in terms of testing days, some were taken away from them.
