Fabio Di Giannantonio was one of the riders who made waves in MotoGP last year with the 2022 version of the Ducati Desmosedici – particularly in the final stages of the season, including a victory against Francesco Bagnaia with the GP23 in its final stages of development.
In Valencia, the current rider of the Pertamina Enduro VR46 Racing Team was able to test the 2023 bike and admitted that the differences compared to the 2022 version contribute to the significance of the results achieved last year:
– It is true that when I was on my [2022 bike], I could already see small differences when I was on the track with Pecco and other riders. But then, when I got on that bike, I definitely said: ‘Now I understand the differences’. I’m sure that what we achieved last year was fantastic for several reasons and the bike was one of those reasons. I think Ducati is very happy with our work last year – because maybe they didn’t think that with the 2022 bike it would be possible to do such a good job as we did.
As for his first impression of the 2023 Ducati, Di Giannantonio said: ‘The first touch on the 2023 bike was fantastic. It is true that we have to work on some areas, but I think the bike has a lot of potential.’
