Toprak Razgatlioglu finished the World Superbike tests in Portimão with the best time, setting a new lap record at the Algarve circuit… believing that he would have been the winner if it had been a race.
The Turkish ROKiT BMW rider reacted to the time of 1m39.189s in statements to the website GPOne.com: ‘The time is truly incredible, since it was achieved on the pace with the SC0 [tire]. In fact, we did a good simulation in the high 1m39s and low 1m40s’.
Despite being cautious for the opening round in Australia, Razgatlioglu believes he would have the pace to win a race if it had been held yesterday in Portimão: ‘We were very strong here, but I don’t know how it will go in Phillip Island. There are many unknowns because the track is different, as well as the grip, and then there’s the new asphalt. It’s still too early to say what to expect in Australia. But if there had been a race today [yesterday], I think I would have won, since my pace was really strong’.
