The year 2023 will have been one of the most chaotic in recent years in MotoGP, largely due to the new format implemented in the category that included a Sprint race – literally – on Saturdays. Raúl Fernández believes that this year will be calmer, with fewer injuries, although he warns in advance that the beginning may still be aggressive.
When talking about the new format, the Spanish Trackhouse Racing driver believes that there have been improvements throughout the year – for him individually and how he adapted – but not only: ‘It was a big problem to understand the Sprint races, the new format. For me, the last part of the year was very good, for everyone more or less.’
The rider believes that this new season will have a better adaptation to the implemented format and that everything could go better, with fewer injuries, although it is naturally expected some hotter moments:
– I saw many riders with problems, saying that next year things would be easier and that almost everyone would understand the format better, so yes, I hope that this 2024 does not happen what happened in 2023, with many injuries. However, we never know, especially at the beginning when everyone wants to push too hard and in the Sprint, you have to be in control because the race is not as long.
