One of the big news in MotoGP for 2024 is the new concessions system. Created to help Japanese manufacturers – Honda and Yamaha – who have been facing many difficulties in recent seasons, it also allows for a more balanced field in the long term by dividing manufacturers into different tiers with different concessions based on performance.
Carmelo Ezpeleta, CEO of Dorna, expressed his satisfaction with the unanimous approval of the regulations, explaining to Marca newspaper how Ducati ended up voting in favor:
– I like that, that’s the best. We could have approved it without everyone’s support, but we were trying until the end. Ducati accepted, didn’t like it, but we convinced them that it was convenient to do it for the good of the Championship. And then they can complain, that seems fine to me. It’s not that I think it’s wrong, it seems fine to me.
