Currently present in the Moto2 and Moto3 World Championships as a sponsor, CFMoto is preparing to enter the World Superbike Championship. If it happens, it will be the arrival of the Pierer Mobility group in the paddock, since CFMoto owns two percent of the Austrian conglomerate whose KTM is the “headline” manufacturer.
According to the website SPEEDWEEK.com, CFMoto presented a patent for a 1,000cc V4 engine in June 2022 and, since last summer, a video of a prototype of its superbike has been circulating. Also in 2023, they took a delegation to visit the Misano round of WSBK, meeting with Dorna. The discussions continued afterwards on the sidelines of the German MotoGP Grand Prix.
Everything indicates that the prototype of the production model will be completed this summer. At the moment, CFMoto is looking for a partner to help build a competitive motorcycle for WSBK, and they have already started making contacts. The goal is to be in the pack in 2026.
For a motorcycle homologated for WSBK, in addition to technical specifications, it has been necessary to build around 500 production units. Since the official returns of BMW and Honda in 2019, there have been no new factory teams in WSBK.
