According to the website SPEEDWEEK.com, CFMoto filed a patent for a 1,000cc V4 engine in June 2022 and a video of a prototype of its superbike has been circulating since last summer. Also in 2023, CFMoto sent a delegation to visit the Misano round of the WSBK, meeting with Dorna. The discussions continued afterwards on the sidelines of the German MotoGP Grand Prix.
Everything indicates that the prototype of the production model will be completed this summer. At the moment, CFMoto is looking for a partner to help build a competitive motorcycle for the WSBK and has already initiated contacts. The goal is to be in the field in 2026.
For a motorcycle homologated for the WSBK, in addition to the technical specifications, it has been necessary to build around 500 production units. Since the official returns of BMW and Honda in 2019, there have been no new factory teams in the WSBK.
