After the testing day in Valencia last November, Álex Rins has already had two more days of work with Monster Energy Yamaha and his new MotoGP bike. And the rider seems to be encouraged so far.
The Spaniard revealed that he had good feelings from the beginning of the shakedown: ‘I felt immediately so good on the first day I jumped on the bike – the first day of the shakedown. I am so happy to have this feeling because it helps to test things and helps to be fast quickly. So, yes, I am happy with how we are working, how we are approaching everything. We are on a good path‘.
Asked about the extravagance of rival manufacturers’ aerodynamic innovations in the face of a more conservative Yamaha, Rins commented:
– Well, until last year we were certainly conservative or we were not finding the way. But in the end, what I saw in this shakedown… it is true that KTM is introducing many aerodynamic evolutions. We didn’t see Ducati or Aprilia, but we certainly tested something different in the shakedown – some different wings that help a little to ride, to turn, to have less wheelie. The way Yamaha is working now… I felt it so different compared to the Valencia test. Well, the Valencia test was just my first day of school. But I already felt the difference. So, I am very happy and satisfied that we are working well.
